Professional Doctorate and Clinical Training in Child and Adolescent
Psychotherapy (M80)
This is a four year, full time clinically based professional training leading
to qualification as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. The course is
delivered at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and validated by
UEL as a professional doctorate. Students submit a 40-60,000 word research
thesis, written up post clinical qualification, there is also a step off
MProf award available at the end of the four years. In addition to the thesis
students submit a total of 8 assignments  during the 4 years of the
programme. The Trust is an internationally recognised centre  of excellence
for the mental health professions, and this course in Psychoanalytic Child
Psychotherapy has been developed and is delivered by clinician trainers to
equip trainees to use their specialism flexibly within multiple professional
teams in the NHS and elsewhere.  Student numbers are approximately 100
overall, including partner centres in Leeds and Scotland, and elements of
both clinical and research work assessed annually with boards in May and
December, and a separate course registration board to consider research
proposals alongside each assessment board ( half day total). We have always
had a close working relationship with our external examiners as we seek to
continually maintain and develop our high standards. We  have two external
examiners, and are seeking someone to strengthen the academic and research
aspect alongside an external bringing clinical  expertise/ understanding to
the assessment process.
Please forward cvs  to Rebecca Bouckley, Trust Quality Assurance Officer
:rbouckley@tavi-port.nhs.uk. The closing date for expressions of interest is
July 31st.
